Our province has been fortunate to experience recent prosperity and expansion, but this growth has created a real need for trade professionals in Alberta. To help create a new generation of trades passionate about building, we joined forces with Bowness High School to create the Stepper Trade Centre of Excellence. The centre is a place where students can receive the training and education they need to become the skilled professionals of the future.

This partnership couldn't have started without the help of trade workers from Stepper Custom Homes. Our trade workers donated both time and materials to build a charity house. When the house was sold, the profits from the sale were put back into developing the Trade Centre of Excellence. This act of generosity has greatly strengthened the long-term relationship between Stepper Custom Homes and the building industry.

As a result of this successful program, Stepper Custom Homes and Bowness High School have received both the 2006 and 2009 Mayor's Excellence Award in the Small Business Programs category. Put on by the Calgary Educational Partnership Foundation, the Mayor's Excellence Awards celebrate the efforts of business, community and education working together to improve the quality of public education.
